Lindell Kay, crime reporter for The Daily News, lives in Hubert with his wife, five kids, two dogs and Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun. It’s been a while since it’s been fired, but trust me, the shotgun still works.

  1. Mr. Kay, don’t you also have a “Puma” living inside the premise?

  2. WEB Master. I am able to run a drop down to insert my anti spam word, Is that right or should that be hidden so I have to type it in?

  3. I wanted to express my heart felt gratitude to you for creating this web site. It’s allowed me to “catch” up on some missing pieces of information. However, I was surprised to read some of the comments that were less than stellar….actually commending the accused murderer of little Kayla Allen as being a “good woman”.

Is it ever too late to do the right thing? Of course, this is a rhetorical question…yet, it appears that justice was not obtained in this particular case.

    Kindest Regards,

    Patricia

  5. Hi Lindell,

There’s no good place to put this – feel free to relocate it

    From WRAL-TV –

Army: Policies broken in slain soldier’s disappearance

Fort Bragg, N.C. — Three non-commissioned officers have been reprimanded for not following policies and procedures to keep tabs on a new Fort Bragg soldier who later was found dead, the Army said Thursday.

The body of Spc. Megan Touma, 23, was found June 21 in a room at the Fairfield Inn near Cross Creek Mall. She had been assigned to Fort Bragg nine days earlier.

  6. Hey Lindell,

  7. I would like to know who murdered my husband’s mother in 1965 in Redwood City, California. Her name was Pearl Shimek and the case has never been solved. She was stabbed to death inside her own home in broad daylight with no sign of forced entry.

She was active as a volunteer in politics and as a hospital volunteer. I have sometimes wondered if she found out some unflattering information about a local politician who then murdered her.

  8. Hey Lindell, I think Illionois needs a crime story reporter like you. Hell I do not know if they even have one. If you know of one could you let me know? My brothers death was closed as a suicide. I do not beleive that to be true. For 1 thing if your right handed I think you would shoot yourself in the right temple with your right hand. NOT in the left temple with your left hand. HMM. Well anyway I had an investigator try to get in the Cahokia police records and he said they would not let him in there and that he thought they were covering something up. Well I know that because of the other things I found out. If you think you can give me some guidance on this please feel free to let me know. I will give you more details if your interested.

  9. Dear Lindell,

Are you familiar with the Marcus Strader case in 1974. I was one of the tellers he robbed at the bank when he came in with his hostage and later killed her. He was a Marine who also killed 2 more people the same week.

I have several questions I would like to ask you about that case.

    Please respond.

    Thanks,

    Sandy

  10. Sandy,

I am pretty familiar with Marcus Shrader. Here is a report Jennifer Hlad and I wrote when he died in prison a few years ago:

You can e-mail me questions or post them here and I will answer what I know and ask the cops I know that worked the case what I don’t.

  11. Marcus Shrader was a Navy Corpsman, not a Marine.

  12. Thank you for a quick reply.

Have any crime tv shows ever done a report on the Shrader murders?

It seems like it would be an interesting story.

Please tell me what your e-mail address is.

    Thanks

    Sandy

  14. That Marcus Shrader Navy Corpsman sounds gruesome. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a bit off in the head.

I am surprised his writing privileges weren’t suspended for sending threatening letters!!!!
Threatening people is still a crime even if he was in jail!!!

  15. On the Marcus Shrader subject….Three cheers for you Mr. Potter for working so hard to make sure Shrader stayed out of circulation!!!!

I can’t imagine anyone setting up a torture chamber in his attic. Awful stuff.

  16. Dear Lindell:
In re: to the article about: “Shooting investigation called off at victim’s request”:
If the victim went to Onslow Memorial Hospital and layed down a MEDICAID CARD to pay for being treated for a gun shoot wound ( and possibly long term physical therepy??) I personally do not believe she has the right to call off an investigation of the shooting. The shooting was obviously with an illegal hand gun or weapon that needs to come off the streets. I know a medical file on any given person ( and supposedly the method to which they pay their bill) is supposed to be PRIVATE INFO however the law enforcement people can find out anything if they want to…. and…. if my tax dollars are paying for “her care” I want to see the trigger puller arrested and dealt with… let alone getting another illegal weapon off the street.

  17. Hey Lindell,
What ever happened to the chick that threw her baby away in the dumpster at an apartment complex off of Hwy 172 in Hubert? She go to court yet? Where was she from?
Like your blog even if it is hard sometimes to find specific info.
    Take care.

  18. Any more info on the Dana Browning case?

    Comment by Kay — January 19, 2010 @ 3:35 pm

  19. Was stationed at CLNC when all that murdering was going on in the Jacksonville area. But was transferred to Okinawa before Shrader was arrested. Never heard anymore about it until browsing through the Jacksonville news of that time and era. Then I looked up Marcus Shrader and read a couple of articles about the case and he had died while serving a life sentence in a NC Prison. It didn’t mention anything about where he was born and reared and rank held and unit served with until arrested and tried for the crimes. Thank God for the Corpsman who just happened to spot his features on that poster, if not Shrader would have killed many more.
